St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus regular meeting 1-17-2018
G/Knight DePorter called the meeting to order and led the opening prayer and pledge.
Approval of the previous minutes was made by Brent and a second by Tom motion carried.
Names of new members Rick, Liam and Aidan Kilcoin were presented for approval motion by Larry and a second by Jerry motion by carried.
Treasurer Report was presented and a motion to approve by John and a second by Preston motion carried.
F/Secretary Brent reported we have 88 members with 32 being insurance members. Discussion on the members being delinquent on dues is becoming a real issue. A Retention Committee of Brent, Jerry, John and Preston will review those who are behind in their dues and bring that report to the membership for future action. Brent will also order the first Degree yellow sashes.
G/Knight DePorter reported that he will be ordering the coats for kids.
Insurance Agent Jeff reported that membership is available on line for an At-Large membership. Jeff also answered questions.
Major Degree at Christ the King on April 14′ 2018. Starting at noon.
First Degree at St Ambrose on Wednesday February 21, 2018 starting at 6.30 pm. Major Degree at St. Ambrose will be this fall, date and more information to follow.
The Pro-Life pancake breakfast Sunday January 21, 2018 from 8 until noon. Dan will chair this event with a couple of new events toward the end with a couple of gift card for prizes.
Trivia Night for Scholarships will be February 10, 2018. Larry and Chris will be chairing the event. A table is $100.00 and a maximum of ten people per table. Doors open at 6.00 and first question at 7.00.There will be 50/50, heads & tails, mulligan’s and doubles available for purchase.
The Food Pantry Taco event will be held on February 24, 2018 from 4.00 to 7.00. This will be in conjunction with Father Charles’ “Concert for a Cause”.
The Seminarian Prime Rib and Chicken Breast sandwich event will be April 21, 2018 from 4.00 until 7.00. Jim will be in charge of this annual event. More info to follow.
The Guy Randazzo Memorial Golf Outing will be held on June 9, 2018 at Highland Springs with an afternoon shot gun start. More info to follow. Larry requested $99.00 to fund the on-line Event in a Box. This will allow early sign up and early pay for this event and better tracking. Motion by Tom and a second by John motion approved. Individual is $75.00, Team of 4 prices $300.00. Hole sponsors are $100.00 and $50.00.
The Palm Sunday breakfast will be held on March 25, 2018. Denny will chair this event and more info to follow.
The Tootsie Roll event will be chaired by Larry and Dick in September. This year the event money will be presented to SPEC and Blackhawk Special Ed. Jerry entertained a motion to increase the amount and make the checks out for a $1000.00 and a second by Preston motion approved.
The Small Group headed by Tina Mendoza asked for a little financial assistance. A motion by Preston to assist and a second by John motion passed.
G/Knight DePorter will request some wall space for the Charter and awards the Knights have received. He will also ask about hanging the council banners.
Brent reported on the correspondence from MDA. Received and filed. Closing prayer was led by Jerry.
